Moulay Hafid Sdikiene

HALO

The HALO ceiling light by Moulay Hafid Sdikiene is part of Halocline (2026), a collection examining how distinct materials meet, resist, and remain separate within a single structure. The surface retains controlled traces of grinding, sanding, and welding, producing a consistent but materially active finish.

The light is constructed as a compact suspended volume combining cast aluminium and jade onyx. Illumination is contained within the structure and diffused through the material, producing a controlled and indirect output. The object is defined by the relationship between internal light and external surface, with the stone element introducing a secondary register of density within the composition.

Halocline takes its name from the natural phenomenon in which bodies of water with different salinity meet without fully mixing, forming a visible boundary — a principle translated here into the controlled separation of material elements.
