What Remains of Us, Sconce I

Sconce I is part of What Remains of Us, a collection built from an archive of historical ornaments Guillon inherited from the workshop of Fabio Da Tos. Da Tos was a Venetian sculptor and restorer, once part of Guillon's family, who worked on French monuments including the Sanctuary of Lourdes and the Place du Capitole in Toulouse. Moulds and fragments taken from churches and historic buildings are set into forms sculpted in wax and cast in bronze, where they meet radical lines and tubes of light. A pale, almost spectral patina covers the surface, and polished areas let the bronze show through the relief. The piece does not look back with nostalgia; it gives an inherited fragment a future. It is unique and signed by the artist.

French designer and art director William Guillon, based in Bordeaux, explores the tension between decay and elegance, permanence and fragility, in collectible pieces that feel both ancient and radically contemporary.

His aesthetic is neo-romantic and tragic, drawn to imperfect beauty and the haunting grace of the unfinished. Each piece is conceived as a functional sculpture: a fragment of a larger mythology, marked by time, fiercely singular.

Since founding his studio in 2014, Guillon has built a body of work known for sculptural lighting and accessories, worked primarily in cast bronze, including rare alloys such as white bronze. Every piece is handmade, signed, and numbered, sculpted from scratch with no moulds, so no two are ever alike. Most are one-of-a-kind or limited edition, with bespoke commissions available.

His work is exhibited internationally in galleries and showrooms, and has been featured in Vogue, Interior Design, Dezeen, Elle Decoration, and Côté Ouest, among others.
